USWO: For now, not a sellout

Posted: July 1, 2015 8:43 pm

With the U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club less than a week away, tickets are going fast, but still available.

“We’re nearing the potential for a sellout on the weekend,” tournament director Barry Deach said Wednesday, referring to the Saturday (third) and Sunday (fourth) rounds of the championship, scheduled for July 9-12 .

“The (United States Golf Association) will make that call. They’re monitoring it on a daily basis. We’re expecting that daily tickets will be readily available for Thursday and Friday.”

For any of its championships, the U.S.G.A. has rough guidelines for how many spectators to allow on the grounds based on logistics, and the size and accessability of the grounds. The daily limit for Lancaster Country Club is believed to be around 25,000.

The following tickets/packages were still available at press time:

  • Single tickets for daily championship roundsĀ  Thursday through Sunday, July 9-12, at $45 each.
  • Passes for the 1761 Club, a facility near the 13th green that, according to the championship’s web site, “features a unique vantage point to enjoy the pleasures of championship golf. 1761 Club badge holders will savor artisanal cuisine, specialty beverages, exclusive indoor and outdoor spectator advantages and luxury amenities,” at $225 each,

Badges for the 1761 Club are good for the entire week, Monday through Sunday. As of Wednesday, 99 percent of the 1761 badge been sold.

“There are just a couple of those left,” Deach said. “They’re tough because of the price and it’s a week long commitment.”

  • Tickets for practice rounds Monday-Wednesday, July 6-8, at $20 each.

Wednesday, July 8 is Junior Day, when spectators age 17 and under will be admitted free with a ticket- or badge-holding adult, and will have access to special areas inside the ropes (on the backs of tees, for example) to get an up-close look.

Junior tickets can be obtained from the admission sales and will-call office just outside the main spectator admissions gate.

Two ticket categories have been sold out: two-entry and seven-entry flex packages. Assuming there is no sellout, patrons will be able to take the public shuttle from Park City Center to the site and buy tickets at the main gate.
