We all love a souvenir.
At the U.S. Women’s Open, those souvenirs range from a metal ball marker for $2, all the way up to original framed artwork by local artist Liz Hess for $695.
Visit the Merchandise Pavilion, not far from the 18th green and the main entrance at the Lancaster Country Club, and you might be surprised.
First, “pavilion” is somewhat of a misnomer for the facility. The 8,000-square-foot facility is air-conditioned and carpeted, and looks and feels like a large boutique or small department store.
With its lighted displays, fully stocked clothing racks and shelved goods, the store is easy to shop and there are lots of things for the golf aficionado, or just the casual souvenir hunter.
The store is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Here are some choices:
$2 buys you a metal ball marker. $3 buys you a golf ball.
Small, lightweight and practical, these pocket-friendly souvenirs are located by the cash register for those last-minute impulse buys.
Hats are one of the best sellers and they come in a variety of colors and will protect you from sunburn and skin cancer. Score!
A basic baseball-style cap is $25 and a visor is $23.
The Tervis Tumbler, an insulated cup, is expected to be a big seller. For $14, it comes with the Open logo.
Next to it is a variety of logo Susquehanna Glass ware, including a shot glass for just $6.
Mary Beth Filling, who with her husband, Jay, are heading the committee for merchandise services, particularly likes a light-green coffee mug with the Open logo, for just $8.
It also comes in black.
Does she like scented candles? The Sun & Sand Yankee candle costs $22.
Does she golf? A long-sleeved white Kate Lord T-shirt, with a patriotic logo, goes for $23; a washed pink Ralph Lauren Polo shirt retails for $89; and a quarter-zip Callaway pullover runs $75.
A Cutter & Buck golf shirt costs $42; Cutter & Buck pinstriped shorts cost $62; and a Callaway windbreaker costs $67.
The hex sign-styled logo is splashed across all manner of small and large items, from clothing to extras.
Here are some choices: a tote bag: $50; a cellphone case: $6; a golf towel, $30; a golf umbrella, $40; a sport chair, $32; and a drink cozy, $3.
